Prairie Meets Mediterranean: Dueling Dietitians

An evening of fun, food and heart-healthy information on Thursday, Feb. 21, will follow the trail of good nutrition through the prairie to the Mediterranean with “Dueling Dietitians” Nikki Ver Steeg and Joanne Shearer from Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota.

This Aberdeen “dinner theater” event sponsored by Avera St. Luke’s will feature a heart-healthy menu and a fun-packed performance by the Dueling Dietitians. They’ll highlight the benefits of healthy food and how to combine our prairie style of eating with the health benefits of the Mediterranean style. It may take compromise, but this type of diet is workable. The Dueling Dietitians will show us how it can all come together. The dietitians will help the crowd navigate the nutrition map to gain energy and lose weight.

Bring a friend, bring a spouse, bring a date — this would make a great night out for couples, but everyone is invited to come and take part. There’ll be booths and displays, which open at 5:30 p.m. The meal, including dessert, will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the “Dueling Dietitians” at about 7:15 p.m.

Reserved seating tickets for this event at the Aberdeen Ramkota Convention Center will be available for $20 at Dacotah Bank in downtown Aberdeen and continuing until Feb. 19. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
