Same Day Surgery space growing
Same Day Surgery patients at Avera St. Luke’s will find bigger rooms, more privacy, added convenience and a lot more space when construction is completed on a $2 million project later this year. Construction started in April 2008.
Same Day Surgery and the surgery recovery area, known as the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), will be moving into 10,396 square feet of undeveloped space on the first floor of the new southeast addition. This 70,000-square-foot addition, completed about two years ago, already houses the BirthPlace on the fourth floor, a new Intensive Care Unit on the third floor, and physician clinics on the second floor.
Avera St. Luke’s Surgery area will also undergo significant remodeling and changes over the next 18 months, including a new minimally-invasive surgery suite, call rooms, staff lounge and more storage.

State Street Medical Square now open
It's finished! Avera St. Luke’s new State Street Medical Square, located on the corner of First Avenue Southeast and State Street in Aberdeen, SD, is now open. Aberdeen Family Physicians is the anchor tenant and occupies the first floor.
The two-story building, more than 54,000 square feet in size, is located north of the hospital and Avera St. Luke’s Child Development Center.
A pharmacy is also located in State Street Medical Square. More than 20,000 square feet of rentable space for other physicians is available.

Avera St. Luke's Healthcare Plaza
Avera St. Luke’s new Healthcare Plaza, located at 820 First Ave. S.E. in Aberdeen, SD, features 17,000 square feet of space for medical office suites and a free-standing imaging center in a 
strip mall style, with convenient parking located next to the building.
The first space to be occupied is Avera St. Luke’s Imaging Center. Designed with the needs of outpatients in mind, the center offers a full spectrum of the latest technology found in medical imaging equipment, including a CT scanner, ultrasound, bone densitometry (DEXA) and general radiology (X-ray) - plus full-field, direct digital mammography, the first equipment of this kind in the region.
As a regional center for medical services, Avera St. Luke’s provides diagnostic exams for more than 50,000 people each year, with about 60 percent of those for outpatients.
Southeast Hospital Addition
Avera St. Luke's southeast addition houses our Intensive Care Unit; the BirthPlace, our new maternity unit; and two physician clinics on the second floor, North Central Heart Institute and Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates of Aberdeen. Construction on a new Same Day Surgery on the first floor should be completed by late 2008.
The new ICU on the third floor connects to our existing third-floor Medical Unit, and includes a large family lounge area. The BirthPlace, our state-of-the-art maternity unit on the fourth floor, features 12 spacious, private rooms that surround a central nursery and a rainbow-shaped window for viewing the "Small Miracles." The ground floor includes more than 10,000 square feet of space being reserved for future uses. The first floor also serves as a new clinic entrance and includes a foyer, staircase and elevators.
Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center
Avera St. Luke's new Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center offers a wide range of therapy services to the people of this region, featuring the region's only large-size warm water therapy pool.
Even though our building is connected to the Northeast Regional Health and Fitness Center, we’re a separate entity with no membership required. The Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center is a department of Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, located at an offsite location at 721 First Ave. S.E. in Aberdeen, SD.
We invite you to take a look at our warm water therapy pool and check out our new space and equipment. Our entire facility is handicapped accessible, including family changing rooms.
