Driving Directions

How to arrive at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center

We are located on the west side of Cliff Avenue (north/south street) between main roads 12th Street and 26th Street (both east/west streets). Use the following directions based on your arrival location.

If traveling from the Northwest:
Take I-29 South to 12th Street, Exit 79
Take 12th Street east to Cliff Avenue
Turn right on Cliff Avenue and drive straight south
Turn right on 21st Street

If traveling from the Southwest:
Take I-29 North on I-229, Exit 75
Take I-229 to Cliff Avenue, Exit 4
Turn left on Cliff Avenue and drive straight north
Turn left on 21st Street

If traveling from the Northeast:
From I-90, take Cliff Avenue, Exit 399, and drive straight south
OR,
Take I-229 South to 10th Street, Exit 6
Turn right on 10th Street and drive to Cliff Avenue
Turn left on Cliff Avenue and drive south
Turn right on 21st Street

If traveling from the Southeast:
Take 26th Street to Cliff Avenue
Turn right on Cliff Avenue and drive north
Turn left on 21st Street

Parking at Avera McKennan

Parking is available in various ramps, lots and streets on and surrounding the hospital campus. For more details, read below or view our campus map.

Valet Parking
Courtesy valet parking is available at the front entrance of the hospital for patients and individuals needing special assistance. Hours for valet parking are Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Valet hours are always posted at the front entrance. The front entrance can be reached by various streets on campus (see the campus map for details).

Ramp Parking
Free parking is available in the North and South parking ramps that are connected by skywalk to the hospital and other campus buildings. The ramps are located along 20th St. which runs east and west on the north side of the campus.

Patient & Visitor Outside Parking Lot
You can also park in the large patient and visitor lot on the south side of the campus. It is located between the Orthopedic Institute (west side of the campus) and Cliff Avenue (east side of the campus).

Street Parking
Limited parking is also available on some of the streets surrounding our campus on the west and south sides. However, time and condition restrictions are in place for these areas. Please acknowledge and obey the parking signs posted in these areas.

Parking for Various Clinics on Campus
You can use the hospital parking areas if you have a clinic appointment but sometimes more specific parking is available depending on the clinic. If you are visiting one of our clinics on or off the campus, please verify the best place to park with the clinic staff.
